I am a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall) law school. I was admitted to the Oregon Bar in 1991. I have practiced in California, Alaska, and briefly interned in Australia and New Zealand. I have 30 years of civil litigation experience in state and federal trial and appellate courts. My areas of law practice have included bankruptcy, real estate, family law, commercial litigation, construction defects, land use, personal injury, administrative, and probate law.
I have served as a mediator in the Jackson County Small Claims Court program and as an arbitrator for the Jackson and Josephine County Circuit Courts and the Arbitration Service of Portland. I received mediation training at Southern Oregon University. I have served as a Circuit Judge Pro Tem and was initially elected as the Jackson County Justice of the Peace in 2004. I’m now serving a third term in that position.
Currently, my primary areas of practice are Business and Real Estate. Having a passion to help others, I continue to sharpen my knowledge of changes in the law in Oregon and other states to stay on the cutting edge of the foreclosure crisis.
I have been actively involved in the community by serving on the Ashland Forest Lands Commission, Medford Planning Commission, and various non-profit boards, such as Mediation Works. I have been an amateur actor at Oregon Stage Works and Camelot Theater. I live in the Railroad District, love gardening and yoga, and enjoy plays, concerts, and movies.
